Engineered for modern urban distribution. Utilizing the superior dielectric strength of SF6 gas to deliver an ultra-compact, sealed-for-life, and maintenance-free switching solution for Ring Main Units (RMUs).
An SF6 Load Break Switch (LBS) is a medium-voltage switching device where the main electrical contacts and arc-quenching mechanisms are housed inside a hermetically sealed tank filled with Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) gas.
Because SF6 gas has a dielectric strength approximately 2.5 times higher than atmospheric air and possesses excellent arc-extinguishing properties, these switches can be made incredibly compact. They are the fundamental building blocks used by panel builders to manufacture gas-insulated Ring Main Units (RMUs) for space-constrained urban power grids.
The stainless steel or epoxy resin gas enclosure is robotically laser-welded. With an annual gas leakage rate strictly controlled below 0.1%, the unit guarantees a 30-year operational lifespan without requiring any SF6 gas refilling.
Integrates "Connect", "Isolate", and "Earth" positions into a single moving contact system. This design naturally prevents the simultaneous closing of the main circuit and the earth circuit, ensuring foolproof operational safety.
Equipped with a highly visible front-facing gas pressure indicator (barometer) and a rear-mounted rupture disk. In the rare event of an internal arc, the disk safely directs expanding gases away from the operator.

Our SF6 LBS is designed with a high safety margin. Even if the gas pressure drops to atmospheric levels (0 bar relative pressure), the physical distance between the contacts is sufficient to withstand the rated voltage and clear normal load currents safely, providing operators with ample time to schedule maintenance.
The operating mechanism features highly reliable mechanical indicators directly coupled to the main shaft. Additionally, we provide models with reinforced glass viewing windows, allowing operators to visually confirm the physical position of the moving contacts and the earth switch.
Yes, the standard manual spring-operating mechanism can be easily retrofitted with an integrated motor drive and shunt trip coils. This makes the SF6 LBS fully compatible with RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) control for SCADA network automation.
