What is an Outdoor Circuit Breaker?

An Outdoor Circuit Breaker is a highly robust protective device mounted on utility poles or outdoor substation structures. It is designed to interrupt massive short-circuit currents on overhead distribution lines. Often equipped with smart controllers, they function as Auto-Reclosers (ACR), automatically opening and closing to clear temporary faults (like lightning strikes or fallen branches) without manual intervention.

Auto-Reclosing (ACR)

Houses all three phases within a single, hermetically sealed stainless-steel tank filled with SF6 gas. It provides an impenetrable barrier against external contamination.

We offer the outdoor circuit breaker as a standalone mechanical unit or as a complete package paired with an intelligent control cabinet (RTU/FTU). For Auto-Recloser (ACR) functionality or remote SCADA control, purchasing the complete package with the control cabinet and connecting aviation cables is highly recommended to ensure protocol compatibility.

Our SF6 Dead-Tank models are equipped with an over-pressure rupture disk. In the highly unlikely event of an internal arc fault, this disk bursts safely, directing expanding gases in a controlled direction to prevent the stainless-steel tank from exploding, ensuring the safety of linesmen below.

Yes. While primarily operated via the motorized mechanism powered by the control box (which has battery backup), the breaker features highly visible manual trip/close levers. These can be safely operated from the ground using a standard insulated hook stick.
