However, VCBs are significantly more expensive and larger. Therefore, VCBs are typically reserved for primary distribution and main incoming lines, while LBS are used for cost-effective secondary transformer protection.

An Auto-Recloser (ACR) is a specific type of Outdoor VCB equipped with a smart controller. When a temporary fault occurs (like a tree branch touching a line), the ACR opens to clear the fault and then automatically closes again to restore power. If the fault persists after multiple attempts, it will lock out permanently.
